Milestone #FMF
Milestone. The mark of a significant event in your life. Often, the beginning of a new chapter.
As one who enjoys reflections and deep thinking, I love milestones. I love to mark the places in my life where significant change or growth started. I think that's why things like my birthday, the end of a year, the beginning of a school year, etc are so significant to me. These are opportunities to look back, but also to look forward. I have found that I need to look back before I can look forward with clarity. Looking back allows me to gain perspective, to see what went well and what didn't go well. Learning from the past empowers me to make better choices and decisions in the future.
Some milestones I can think of off the top of my head in my own life include:
Becoming a Christian
Getting baptized
Earning my first $1000
Getting my first job
Getting my driver’s license
Graduations (highschool, AA, BA, grad school)
Getting married
Having children
Moving overseas
Becoming a writer
Having my writing published
Being the parent of a high school student (what!?!)
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14 CSB
