Root #FMF
Where there is fruit, there's a root.
The Bible teaches us that fruit is always "in keeping with it's kind" (See Genesis). In other words, you're not going to find oranges on an apple tree or tomatoes on a pear tree. And, if you plant a bean seed, you can expect and count on the plant that comes up being a bean plant and not a tomato plant. Fruit is always in keeping with it's kind. We reap what we sow. These are spiritual realities and we deceive ourselves if we believe otherwise.
As I consider these things, I have been meditating on John 15 and Ephesians 3. Both of these passages have beautiful promises for those who are in Christ Jesus. In John 15 we see that good fruit in our lives only comes as we abide in Him, remain in His love, and let His words remain in us. And in Ephesians 3 we can join Paul in praying that our roots will grow down deep in God's love, that we can be rooted and grounded in Him, and know (by experience) the deep Love of Christ that is powerful and transformative.
